Can I fit a SRAM XD cassette on a Shimano HG freehub body?
No. A SRAM XD cassette threads onto a dedicated XD driver (it starts at 10 teeth), whereas the Shimano HG body is splined. These are two incompatible standards: you need a hub with an XD Driver body. Many hubs let you swap the freehub body from HG to XD.
