Can I put a Shimano HG cassette on a SRAM XD body?
No. The XD body is threaded for XD cassettes that start at 10 teeth; a Shimano HG cassette (splined) won't mount on it. You need an HG body. On many hubs you can replace the XD freehub body with a compatible HG one.
Standards involved
What you need — before you buy
- These parts aren't compatible as they are: you need a component built for the correct standard — see “Standards involved” above.
- Identify your exact hub/frame first (brand, model and year), then match the replacement to it.
- If your part doesn't support the other standard, use a component compatible with the standard you already have.
- Match the part to your exact hub/frame: check brand, model and year. Don't choose a freehub body or component by standard name alone.
