Can I fit a SRAM XD cassette on a Shimano HG freehub body?

No. XD is a different interface from HG: a SRAM XD cassette threads onto a dedicated XD driver (smallest cog of 10 teeth), whereas the Shimano HG body is splined and doesn't go below 11 teeth. These are two incompatible standards: you need an XD body; on many hubs you can swap the freehub body from HG to XD. Note: SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed cassettes start at 11 teeth and use the HG body — but they are NOT XD cassettes, don't confuse them.
